Maintaining your Urbanglide scooter
To maintain your scooter’s performance and ensure your safety, regular maintenance is essential
Taking the time to maintain your scooter reduces the risk of malfunctions and ensures a reliable ride. Regular checks of key components help you spot potential problems early and maintain optimum performance.
The fasteners
Your scooter is subject to a lot of vibration, which can affect the screws. Do check your screws and tighten them if necessary. Pay particular attention to the screws on the wheels, the folding mechanism and the frame. When tightening, a quarter turn is usually sufficient. Over-tightening the screws could damage them and other parts of your scooter.
The battery
Just like with any other device, your scooter’s battery may lose some of its range over time. But there are ways to make it last longer:
- Please ensure you always use the charger supplied with your scooter.
- In fact, the charging method varies from one charger to another and may affect how your device charges.
- Never let your battery run completely flat. Recharge it when it starts to run low (between 20% and 30% charge)
- Do not leave your scooter plugged in once it is fully charged.
- Do not expose your battery to very hot or very cold temperatures for long periods. An average temperature of 15°C is recommended.
- If you are not going to use your scooter for a while, store it in a place at room temperature and charge it to around 50 per cent. Repeat the charging process once a month until you start using it regularly again.
Tyres
It is essential to check the condition of your tyres and their pressure (in the case of tyres with inner tubes).
For this type of tyre, inspect them to ensure they have no cuts or punctures, then check their pressure.
Inflate them if necessary.
Solid tyres should be replaced if they show significant wear. Checking their roundness helps to determine their wear: if the tyres are flat and/or the tread pattern has worn away, it is time to fit new ones.

In a drum brake, a drum rubs against the wheel to slow it down when you brake; a cable is pulled to actuate the drum. It is this small, visible cable that needs tightening during servicing.
With a disc brake, the brake pads press against a metal disc. These pads can wear down and, over time, damage the disc. You should therefore check the pads regularly and replace them as and when necessary.

Cleaning
We recommend giving the parts of your scooter that are prone to getting dirty (deck, brakes, wheels and handlebars) a quick wipe with a damp cloth. The scooter must be switched off and unplugged whilst cleaning. Then leave your scooter to air dry. Under no circumstances should you use a high-pressure hose to clean your scooter, as this could damage its connectors.
